Job Description
Principal Accountabilities / Key Result Areas: • Support IT Infrastructure staff, developers, and other systems analysts in developing efficient database designs and provide the necessary support • Ensure the installation and maintenance of the systems running on EITC servers with optimal storage space • Ensure on-going maintenance of the Systems including systems performance tuning, and capacity planning • Troubleshooting day to day systems related problems • Serves as a technical resource on EITC projects as it is related to systems administration • Work closely with the EITC IT Infrastructure and development teams, external suppliers and vendors • Administering Systems backup-recovery, replication, user and security procedures • Establish, review and maintain physical systems kernel parameters • Organise the creation and administration of developer accounts and access privileges for all supported systems • Systems monitoring and management via third party tools and other associated tools configuration • Prepares and maintains documentation, technical reports, and provides follow up status on related activities and tasks assigned • Keep IT Infrastructure staff and management up to date on all matters relating to Systems performance tuning and capacity planning with issues of significance being flagged • Performs other relevant duties as assigned
Profile
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competencies: • Strong Systems Administration experience on multiple platforms (Solaris / Linux / Windows) • Solid experience in utilizing data modelling tools and creating logical and physical data models • Strong experience in Systems performance tuning, strong UNIX administration, Shell scripting Qualification: • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering • Solaris/HP-UX international certifications and relevant qualifications is preferred Experience: • At least 8 years of UNIX Systems Administration • Solid experience dealing with state of the art storage technologies, suppliers, and vendors • Solid experience with Systems monitoring, testing, performance, and management • Strong problem solving and innovative solutions design and systems management Core Competencies: • Well developed verbal communications skills • Analytical thinking and reasoning abilities • Structured and practical problem solving abilities • Well developed verbal and written communication skills • Team player and co-operation • Adhere to company policies, standards, and procedures • Capable of working under stress • Flexibility to meet company timelines and objectives • Respect authorities and hierarchy structure
